Where do you work?
I work for the Creative Writing Department on campus and I am an ESL Instructor for Saint Mary’s Downtown.
What are your top 3 accomplishments?
1. I got accepted into a graduate conference at NC State in March. I presented a project that I am working on. It is about ESL education and comparing it to contrastive rhetoric (comparing second language writing).
2. Graduating in three years instead of four. I am happy that I get to save that money for grad school. If you think about it, it is like an extra $15,000 you get to save; that’s a whole Master’s degree… haha
3. Having being able to take 21 credit hours and maintain all A’s, and being able to student manage everything else with Ritmo, work, and volunteering. It helped me learn time management.
What's after college?
"I am applying for jobs around here. It will be just temporary until I can get into my Master's program for Speech Pathology."
Dream job?
“Hmmm... Dream job?... I don't know haha… It would be opening my own Speech Pathology office. I would like to have my own space and speech pathology practice.”
Any advice to the generation rising at UNCW?
“I would say, you should try everything your freshmen year. Try dancing, especially haha, because you never know what you are going to find is like your absolute passion. I walked in the first day of Ritmo and I was like “Oh my gosh! I can’t do this.” Now I am here. You never know what you are really good at and like. Just try it!”
