Research Interests:

My research explores the function of a transcription factor family called NUCLEAR FACTOR Y (NF-Y). I am primarily interested in understanding the role of NF-Y during carbon and nitrogen partitioning into plant proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids. Some of the questions I am interested in answering together with undergraduate researchers at UNCW are; what are the specific members of the NF-Y transcription factor family that regulate carbon and nitrogen allocation? Are there other transcription factors that work together with the NF-Y? I use a combination of bioinformatic and molecular genetic tools to answer these questions.

Undergraduate students interested in conducting independent research projects are welcome to contact me.
