Aaron Wilcox is a ceramist and professor in the Art and Art History Department at UNCW. The Lumina Festival is pleased to present Swimmers, a solo exhibition of ceramic sculptures opening at the Cultural Arts Building (CAB) Gallery on July 12th.

Opera Wilmington Behind the Scenes

Opera Wilmington will host an open house in UNCW’s Cultural Arts Building. Theatre fans get a behind the scenes look at how opera comes together at Opera Wilmington. The tour includes a visit to UNCW’s scene shop, costume shop and vocal studio as well as a sneak-peak of the company’s next production

Latin Dance

Latin Dance Salsa Party

The party will feature a beginner lesson and short performances by Wilmington Latin Dance, followed by an inclusive dance party for students, community, and visitors. Wilmington’s Latin Dance’s mission is to create a community filled with good energy by allowing your journey of learning to dance Salsa to be fun and enjoyable and to provide a strong foundation, so you will feel comfortable dancing from Beginner levels to Advanced.

Explore VR! in collaboration with Cucalorus

Come test out the latest VR gear and meet resident artists from around the world, in Wilmington for three weeks as part of the "IMMERSION 2.0:  Emplacement VR Lab" hosted by Cucalorus and the School of Making Thinking. Resident artists will be producing immersive theater and VR pieces, drawing on the emergent culture of the program and an exploration of the implications of immersive experience. 

MoBMouths of Babes
Morton Hall Auditorium • FREE

Mouths of Babes (MOB) presents a new works theatre festival with plays for teens and young adults. MOB aims to promote and support young actors and audiences to be active participants, not only in the arts, but in the world around them by tackling today's changing issues.

**The Mouths of Babes productions scheduled for July 18th, 22nd and 25th will take place in Morton Hall Auditorium due to the likelihood of rain.

UNCW Jazz

UNCW Jazz Workshop Final Showcase

The UNCW Jazz Combos have garnered numerous awards over the years at various jazz festivals including first place for the best university combo at JazzFest U.S.A. They have also been invited to perform at various prestigious jazz festivals including the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, as well as the Graz Jazz Festival in Austria.

Make Trouble launched in summer 2016 in Staunton, VA - a summer actor training intensive and repertory company in Shakespeare, Ensemble and Devising for university students and recent graduates. Their mission is to nurture and train emerging artists as a fiercely generous and courageous ensemble of theater-makers from around the world, for this summer and for enduring collaborations together.
