Multimedia Professionals Wanted

The evolution of digital communications, online learning, educational technology, mobile and web marketing, social media and content management systems has created demand for a new type of educator in both schools and in business.

Multimedia design principles and development skills are increasingly essential to many roles today, whether as an instructional designer, web designer, content developer, or creator of any number of multimedia content environments.

Designed for both working professionals and students already enrolled in other graduate degree programs at UNCW, the this certificate provides access to the benefits of our nationally ranked Master of Science in Instructional Technology program in the form of a certificate rather than a full graduate degree.

Marketable Skills for a Growing Field

Students who pursue the MWD certificate will emerge with a broader knowledge of how to respond to the needs of developing digital content that is dynamic, interactive and engaging without adding to the cognitive load of the viewers.

This certificate program responds to the growing need by providing a foundation in interactive digital content creation and enhancing professional expertise in today’s high-tech communication environment.

Upon completing the certificate program, you will be skilled in multimedia development. Just as important, you will gain awareness of and sensitivity toward various organizational, ethical, cultural and pedagogical issues related to utilization of media/emerging technology.

With this knowledge, you will be better equipped throughout your professional career to:

  • Use instructional design models and principles, as well as interactive technologies and software for dynamic multimedia development, authoring, screen/sound recording and presentations.
  • Design and develop interactive, static and dynamic multimedia content in 3D, gaming and online environments in both computer and mobile applications for a range of business sectors.
  • Serve various clients, teams and enterprises with an understanding of resources needed, as well as time and budget parameters.
