By the completion of the program, the goal is for PhD in Psychological Science graduates to demonstrate competency in each of the following learning outcomes. The five aims focus on discipline-specific knowledge, research, technical skills, effective written communication, and making ethical decisions.
Aim 1: Students will demonstrate doctoral-level knowledge in the theoretical and empirical frameworks of the science and application of Psychology.
Aim 2: Students will demonstrate doctoral-level comprehensive knowledge in research design and quantitative methods.
Aim 3: Students will demonstrate effective communication of empirical findings in writing (in the style of the American Psychological Association) and in oral presentations.
Aim 4: Students will demonstrate doctoral-level ability to critically evaluate research and to independently develop a research plan based on current empirical findings.
Aim 5: Students will demonstrate knowledge, technical skills, and ethical decisions commensurate with doctoral level training.
