HR generalists have a broad set of responsibilities, such as managing the HR department’s daily operations and overseeing regulatory compliance and reporting, organization development, company-employee communication, and employee safety and welfare.
HR specialists, on the other hand, tend to be more directly involved with recruitment processes like applicant screening, recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding workers into relevant employment opportunities. Specialists can work within specific HR functions such as employee and labor relations, training and development, compensation, benefits, and managing the employee experience through initiatives and culture changes.
