Department of Music audition requirements for wind instruments are as follows.
Woodwind Audition Requirements
Perform two compositions of contrasting style that best represent your performance level. The compositions need not be long and may include a representative etude. In addition, you will be asked to perform major scales and to sight-read passages chosen to suit your technical capabilities.
Auditionees are responsible for obtaining their own copies of all selected repertoire. Public domain works are available through the IMSLP Petrucci Music Library.
The following repertoire is encouraged but not required. Substitutions of equal difficulty and style are welcome.
Flute Repertoire:
- Robert Cavally - 24 Short Concert Pieces for Flute
- Georg Philipp Telemann - Suite in A Minor
- Robert Schumann - Three Romances
- W.A. Mozart - "Andante in C Major, K.315"
- Christoph Willibald Gluck - "Dance of the Blessed Spirits"
- George Frideric Handel - Sonatas
- More difficult literature (i.e., Mozart Concertos, Chaminade's Concertino, Syrinx by Debussy, etc.) is encouraged for advanced students.
