Welcome, auditioning students! The minimum audition literature for all music students will be two contrasting pieces on each applied instrument or voice area with a level of difficulty equivalent to repertoire indicated below.
Most students will be asked to demonstrate technical ability by playing scales, vocalizing or performing specific technical elements. In addition, you will be asked to sight-read some passages chosen to suit your technical capabilities. Please see your applied area below for specific audition requirements, as well as representative repertoire.
We recommend that Music Technology applicants submit a portfolio as part of the audition process. The portfolio should include a resume, audio examples (produced, engineered, or composed), and a one-page personal statement that describes the applicant's background and musical goals.
Music Technology applicants are required to audition on an instrument or voice. However, repertoire options other than those listed under the department’s Audition Repertoire Requirements may be possible in certain applied areas. Applicants should contact the faculty member in the appropriate area to get more information about expectations for Music Technology applicants.
