STEM SENC will join the national Million Girls Moonshot movement of like-minded organizations and partners with the shared goal to change the trajectory of girls and non-binary youth in STEM.
Heddy Clark, Executive Director of STEM SENC shared, “We are grateful for this award because it will allow STEM SENC to collaborate with partners across our state to ensure that more students have the opportunity to participate in engaging STEM activities and experiences, develop their leadership skills, and explore STEM-related careers.”

Leaders will engage in activities related to diversifying the educator workforce, and identify and share opportunities to develop and support STEM educators of color with the STEM SENC steering committee, STEM SENC partners, and regional STEM educators.
This effort is generously sponsored by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund and is being conducted in response to the challenge to increase the diversity of the educator workforce articulated by the North Carolina Developing a Representative and Inclusive Vision for Education (DRIVE) Task Force. It aligns with the Professional Development System Educators of Color network at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
