UNCW Social Justice Symposium
Exploring Artificial Intelligence and Human Life
What are the social justice implications of artificial intelligence technologies? Humanities scholars have argued AI power begins with understanding how modern bureaucratic structures sustain the racist, patriarchal, and monetary powers that shape social life. We have already seen artificial intelligence increase the power of surveillance, often exacerbating existing inequalities.
Could these future tools increase this control even further?
The Department of Sociology and Criminology’s Social Justice Symposium brings UNCW’s research on AI together with scholars from across the region to debate these questions.
