Every semester our department teaches nearly forty introductory surveys to history. Our survey topics cover the entirety of history from the first cities to modern metropoleis. We also offer a range of advanced lecture courses and research seminars. Recent courses include Digitizing Black Wilmington, Exploration in the History of Global Trade, Classical Athens, the History of Fashion and Dress, and the Growth of Wilmington.
We offer small, rigorous seminars and colloquia to our graduate students. Every semester we teach at least one seminar in relevant to specific tracks within our M.A. program. Recent offerings include Global Ireland, Britain in the Age of Revolutions, Maritime History, Global African Diasporas, and Propaganda.
Our faculty produce high quality research every year. We are proud of our ability to teach students how to do so for themselves. In the past two years, our faculty have published books with the University of Pittsburgh Press, the University of Virginia Press, Lexington Books, as well as articles and book chapters in various journals and edited volumes.

In a typical year, history faculty offer more than fifty public talks. We love bringing the university and our expertise to the public, and sharing our passion for the past.
