Silva's New Film Launches Festival Tour
"8 Seconds at the Three Sisters," a new short film by André Silva, associate professor of film studies, has been officially selected for two upcoming film festivals. The 20-minute experimental documentary essay film will make its New York premiere at the Queens World Film Festival and will also screen locally at Wilmington’s Cucalorus Film Festival. The film follows Silva’s journey by canoe into the Black River’s Three Sisters Swamp, home to the oldest known bald cypress trees east of the Rocky Mountains, and reflects on observation, accident, and the porous boundary between human experience and the more-than-human world.
