Scott-Pollock Wins National Scripting Award

Julie-Ann Scott Pollock, professor of communication studies, has won the Marion Kleinau National Scripting Award for "The Legend of La Befana: The Italian Christmas Witch," her adaptation of a book by Tomie DePaola. The production examines the folklore, legend, and religious influences of this mythic figure, and it premiered at the black box theater in Leutze Hall in November.

Sudnick Elected to ECA Position

Kati Sudnick, assistant professor of communication studies, has been elected the new director of social and digital media for the Eastern Communication Association. In this position, she will serve as the strategic lead of online presence for the oldest professional communication association in the U.S.

Congratulations to Dr. Yiyi Yang!

Dr. Yiyi Yang at the Department of Communication Studies is the recipient of the Excellence in Nonverbal Pedagogy Award at the 109th National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. The award is provided by the Nonverbal Communication Division. It is given to an educator whose college/university-level pedagogical activities or teaching strategy that is selected by the committee as the best submission for that year. The competition is open to all types of instructors (including all faculty types and graduate student instructors). We are proud of the dedication and hard work that Dr. Yang has shown, congratulations!

Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock received a presidential citation for service for leading the organization in research and teaching to be more accessible at the National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. Dr. Julie-Ann Scott-Pollock, Dr. Evan Scott-Pollock and Frank Trimble received the Best Aural/Visual Ethnography Award for Gazed At: Stories of a Mortal Body at the National Communication Association (NCA) annual convention. We are proud of them for their hard work and dedication!

Congratulations to Dr. Kati Sudnick!

Dr. Kati Sudnick is the recipient of the National Communication Association Leadership and Service Recognition Award. The award is presented by the Communication Ethics Division and honors outstanding leadership qualities and service work within this sub-discipline. Dr. Sudnick received the award for her extensive work within the Communication Ethics Division beginning in 2020 as Vice-Chair Elect. We are proud of Dr. Sudnick's hard work!
