Undergraduate Major in Political Science
39 hours of Political Science which must include:
PLS 101 American National Government
PLS 201 Introduction to Political Science Methods
PLS 212 Introduction to Political Theory
PLS 220 Introduction to International Relations
PLS 230 Introduction to Comparative Government and Politics
PLS 401 Senior Seminar
A total of 18 hours must be at the 300-400 levels. A minimum GPA of 2.00 required in all political science courses.
Students planning to do graduate work are encouraged to study a modern foreign language and to acquire a basic knowledge of computer science, statistics, and calculus.
To satisfy the oral communications competency requirement for the B.A. degree in political science a student must successfully complete one of the following:
PLS 401 Senior Seminar
PLS 495 Departmental Seminar
or any other approved oral intensive course.

Political science majors seeking teacher licensure in social studies must complete the Teacher Education Program requirements and a minimum of 21 collateral hours including:
HST 101 Western Civilization
HST 102 Western Civilization
HST 103 Global History
HST 201 American History
HST 202 American History
and at least one course in each of the following areas: economics, geography, and sociology or anthropology.
