The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a Lecturer position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to begin August 2009. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-eligible position, renewable for subsequent years.
Duties include teaching various courses with a load equivalent to 12 hours per week, appropriate scholarship and professional development, normal departmental service, and possibly additional responsibilities assigned by the department chair (mathematics placement, curriculum revision projects, mentoring teaching assistants, designing online courses, etc.).
A minimum of a Master’s degree in mathematics is required; a PhD in mathematics is preferred. The record of the candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, and the candidate must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin. Experience working with diverse populations is a plus.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
