Staff Counselor/Psychologist

The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks to fill a staff position in the Counseling Center.  The successful candidate will be a generalist who is multiculturally competent and affirming and who possesses specific interests and experience in providing services which support the mission of an  active university counseling center.  Responsibilities will include:  individual, group, and relationship counseling, outreach programming, crisis intervention/on-call rotation, consultation, assessment, and administrative duties, as assigned. 

In addition to the general duties listed above, interest and expertise in one or more of the following is desired: multicultural services, mood regulation, anxiety management, outreach, groups or health psychology.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, oral and written skills; a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student groups; a commitment to actively engage in practice with diverse populations (racial/ethnic, LGBT, ability, gender, SES, etc.); interpersonal flexibility with a sense of humor; and a commitment to the developmental approach to counseling center services.

Qualifications: A doctorate in counseling or clinical psychology, counseling, or social work is strongly preferred (ABD candidates will be considered); a minimum of two years of clinical experience in a college/university counseling center is required (this may include practica, internships and/or post doctoral fellowships).   In addition, candidate must be eligible for licensure or currently licensed in the state of North Carolina.   

The position is available as of July 15, 2009.  Salary is competitive and the position includes a full benefits package.  Initial consideration will be given to applications received by June 5, 2009; however applications will be accepted until a successful candidate is identified.
