Assistant Professor - Landscape Dynamics/Active Tectonics
The Department of Geography and Geology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Landscape Dynamics/ Active Tectonics to begin August 2013. We seek an individual with expertise in the interactions between tectonics, climate, and landscape evolution using a field-based, quantitative, GIS/Remote-sensing approach. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate teaching excellence at the introductory (e.g., physical and historical geology, Earth materials) and advanced (e.g., tectonics/neotectonics, structural geology, geomorphology, advanced/applied GIS, field techniques) levels, to recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate student research, to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program, and to complement our emerging directions and strengths in GIS/Remote sensing, engineering geology, coastal processes, geohazards, global tectonics, and geophysics. A PhD in geology, geosciences, or a related field is required.
