Biz Expo 2017

On Thursday, March 30th, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Greater Wilmington Business Journal hosts the 2017 Biz Expo at the Wilmington Convention Center.
We’ve partnered with GWBJ for many projects, and you can bet that you’ll see us exhibiting in the expo hall and giving some excellent seminars!

See below:

  • 1:45 p.m. - Adwords Tips from Marc Mereyde of TiktoPlus. Pay-per-click advertising on the Google platform can significantly boost exposure and revenue for companies and organizations looking to build an online presence, but there’s a caveat attached to that success. Without a proper understanding of how Adwords works, it’s also possible to lose money and achieve few to no results. While online advertising does not offer any guarantee, you can dramatically increase your chances of success by learning some fundamental concepts. We want to help people avoid critical mistakes and gain the knowledge they need to execute effective Adwords campaigns.
  • 2:45 p.m. - Revitalization of Wilmywood from Dan Brawley of the Cucalorus Film Festival, accompanied by Bill Vassar (EUE/Screen Gems Studios), Johnny Griffin (Wilmington Regional Film Commission), Tony Reynolds (Actor and Independent Producer), and Dale Williams (Producer and Production Manager). It is no secret that the Wilmington Film Industry took a big hit when North Carolina cut filmmaking incentives, but we are still here. Wilmington still has the talent, equipment, resources, and capital to be a leading production destination. Please join the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in an open discussion of the Wilmington film industry to address the main question: How can we transform Wilmington into a distinct destination for filmmaking in a shifting production landscape? From incentives to re-launching the Governor's Film Council, leaders will discuss what positive steps are possible to regaining our position in the market.
  • 3:45 p.m. - Building the Coastal Economy from Diane Durance, Director of the CIE, accompanied by Niels Lindquist (Sandbar Oyster Co.), Conor MacNair (Masonboro Reserve Oyster Co. & UNCW alum), and Ted M. Davis (Aqua Plantations, LLC). The global marine environment is in crisis—and a growing group of North Carolina ventures are making it their business to find sustainable and profitable solutions. From sustainable fisheries and oyster restoration projects, to biotoxins for pharmaceuticals, algae-based water purification and equipment to monitor the health of reefs—it’s all happening in and around Wilmington. Jump on board and hear more about these new ventures and emerging technologies. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, environmentalist, economic developer, educator, or social impact investor, you’ll learn how you can contribute to and benefit from advancing the coastal economy.

We’ll also be exhibiting in the expo hall, Booths 119-121:

Along with our staff will be members of the CIE Media Team with information about their services, a couple of entrepreneurs, and representatives from the Bunker Labs program. We’ll have all kinds of information on upcoming programs, membership, and other opportunities.

Of course, there are plenty of other excellent seminars available!

We hope to see all your smiling faces there! Click here for more info and to get tickets.
