UNCW Chemistry Department Ranked in Top 3% among all ACS Certified Programs
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of North
Carolina Wilmington has achieved remarkable success in recruiting and
training chemistry majors due primarily to the outstanding mentoring efforts
of our faculty. As indicated data posted
at the website of Chemical and Engineering News, the department ranked
14th in the nation (top 2.2%) and third among the sixteen campus UNC system
(behind UNC Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University) in the number
of ACS certified chemistry degrees awarded in the 2004-2005 academic year.
In that same year, the department was fourth among UNC system schools
in the number of Masters of Science degrees awarded and third in overall
Chemistry degrees awarded (BA, BS and MS). This is the third year in a
row that the department was ranked in the top 25 schools in the nation
in the production of ACS certified chemistry degrees.
