Campus & Community S.T.E.A.M. Celebration Heading Banner

Event will take place on September 23, 2017 from 10:30am to 3:30pmA family-friendly event to showcase S.T.E.A.M.

UNCW welcomes the community to a celebration of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Faculty, staff and students will host interactive learning stations, informative presentations, and tours of facilities used for S.T.E.A.M. learning and research on UNCW's Main Campus. S.T.E.A.M. partnerships between campus and the community will be showcased. This is a family friendly event. This event does not require registration, just come when you're available!

Parking will be free for the day on campus, but we recommend the lots on Randall Drive or in the parking deck. Try out a stomp rocket with our Mathematics Department! Or one of our other activities:

  • Explode a volcano with Chemistry Club
  • Dig for fossils with the Geology Department
  • Peak at the sky with a solar telescope
  • Disappear on a green screen and forecast the weather with Communication Studies
  • Discover the microscopic world with our Biology & Marine Biology Departments
  • Explore a computer science lab with face recognition technology and cyber security
  • Dissect an owl pellet (POOP) with our Audubon student club
  • Meet representatives of the Aquarium, Planetarium, Civil Air Patrol and lots more!

CMS event will take place from 11:00am to 3:30pm, Saturday, September 23During the S.T.E.A.M. Celebration, shuttle service to the Center for Marine Science (CMS) Open House will be offered so attendees can also participate in in the many S.T.E.A.M. events happening there. Learn about UNCW’s coastal research and join CMS for informational outdoor displays & activities, food truck, tours, and more! Tours will begin every half hour and you can "pick your own path!"
