Academic Eligibility

Academic eligibility refers to a student’s ability to continue taking classes at UNCW based on the term and cumulative grade point averages.

How do I check my academic eligibility?
Academic standing and grade point averages are posted in SeaNet. Sign into your account, click on Student Services and Financial Aid, Student Records, and View Unofficial Transcript.  

  • Good Academic Standing
    • If your Academic Standing is listed as Good Academic Standing, you are eligible to continue taking classes at UNCW. 
  • Academic Probation
  • Term Dismissal
    • If your Academic Standing is listed asTerm Dismissal, you would need to appeal your dismissal and be reviewed by a committee. If your appeal is approved, you are eligible to continue taking classes at UNCW on probation. 
  • Academic Dismissal
    • If your Academic Standing is listed as Academic Dismissal, you will not be allowed to continue at UNCW  at any time in the next academic year (fall, spring, and any intervening summer). If you wish to return to UNCW, you can submit a reinstatement application. If your appeal is approved, you are eligible to continue taking classes at UNCW on probation.
