International Orientation

International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation covers important immigration, employment, cultural and academic information specifically of interest to all international students beginning at UNCW. Orientation will give you the chance to learn crucial information for your studies, as well as to meet your new U.S. classmates. Orientation is only required for students and is OPTIONAL for family members and guests.

The following international students are required to attend orientation:

  • F-1 visa, degree seeking students (both first-year and transfer students)
  • F-1 visa students enrolled in dual degree international student programs (including TABSA, NANJING and MARMARA)

J-1 visa students must attend the J-1 Exchange Student Orientation. They are only required to attend this orientation.

Orientation Dates, Fees & Deadlines

We offer many orientation sessions for both freshman and transfer students, students can select the session that works best for them.

All students must register for an orientation session by the registration deadline. Students will receive reminders to their UNCW e-mail consistently until they complete registration. No exceptions will be made after a deadline has passed.

In addition to the university orientation, F-1 international students are required to complete an online immigration check-in session with the Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS). Students will receive more details from their international student advisor.
