Sophocles’ Greek tragedy Electra is a story of revenge that follows Electra, the daughter of King Agamemnon, in
her pursuit to avenge her father’s murder.
After returning from battle in Troy, King Agamemnon is murdered by his wife Clytemnestra. This act of revenge by Clytemnestra for her husband’s infidelity sparks the beginning of a long-standing grudge held by the exiled and supposedly dead, Orestes who is Electra’s brother.
