Upcoming ITS Maintenance for ImageNow, Chrome River and Banner

December, 2019

ITS has scheduled maintenance time over the next few weeks for ImageNow, Chrome River and Banner. This maintenance will allow ITS the opportunity to patch and upgrade UNCW systems, which keeps our systems and data secure and highly available.

ImageNow (also known as Perceptive Content) Upgrade Scheduled December 18

Over the next two months ImageNow (Perceptive Content) will undergo a two-part upgrade process. Part 1 of the upgrade is scheduled for December 18 starting at 5 p.m. and will conclude on December 19 at 8 a.m. As part of the upgrade process, ImageNow (Perceptive Content) users are encouraged to leave their UNCW-owned computers on overnight so that the desktop application can be updated automatically. If your computer is turned off, then you will need to update the ImageNow (Perceptive Content) application manually through the Software Center. If you need any assistance with this process, please submit the following ITS Request: “Issues with ImageNow/WebNow.”

Additionally, Experience Apps (, will be available alongside WebNow and can be used on any browser, not just Internet Explorer. Thus, Mac users will be able to access ImageNow without using Horizon! Please keep in mind that WebNow will still require Java to be installed, and Internet Explorer will still be the required browser. For additional information about the upgrade phases, please see below.

  • Phase 1 – Upgrade to version 7.3 - Scheduled for December 18, starting at 5 p.m.
    • Upgrade all modules on the ImageNow servers to version 7.3 or applicable version, and push the desktop application to all users.
    • Make the Experience Apps site available for use. Mac users will once again be able to access ImageNow without using Horizon.
  • Phase 2 - Rebuild all LearnMode Applications - TBD
    • This will remove the Java/IE dependency from the user side. Users will be able to use Chrome or Firefox for linking.

Chrome River Maintenance Scheduled December 21

On Saturday, December 21, starting at 6 p.m., Chrome River will perform a regularly scheduled maintenance on the Production site. The system will be offline for approximately 4 hours while Chrome River upgrades their infrastructure.

Proposed Banner Maintenance Weekend: January 3 - 6, 2020

Annual regulatory upgrades for Banner HR, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Employee and Student self-service have been released and are currently being tested. These upgrades will be installed during the proposed maintenance window of January 3, 2020 beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding January 6, 2020 at 8 a.m. More information coming soon.
