Taking Flight Workshops for Graduating Seniors

The Taking Flight program is comprised of two workshops: one for nominated student leaders, the other a one-day seminar open to all graduating seniors. You will be eligible to participate during the semester you are graduating.

What is the difference between the two workshops?

The workshop for student leaders is only open to students who have been nominated to attend by faculty and staff at the university, whereas the one-day seminar is open to all graduating students. For more information regarding the nomination process, visit the workshops for student leaders page.

Why should I attend?

The Taking Flight workshops provide beneficial information about life after graduation. The programs are geared towards easing the transition between graduation and professional life. By the end of the workshops, students will be able to:

  • Reflect on the skills they gained at UNCW;
  • Learn the skills necessary to thrive in a professional work environment;
  • Consider ways to have a successful transition from college to post-college;
  • Determine mechanisms for coping with change;
  • Alleviate fears and celebrate their excitement through group discussion;
  • Share their expectations for post-graduation life.
