UNCW Awarded Silver in International Sustainability Ranking System

UNCW has achieved a long-term goal of completing the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating Systemtm (STARS) and we are proud and excited to announce that the university was awarded a Silver Ranking!

STARS is a nationally recognized assessment tool developed by AASHE, of which UNCW and the entire UNC system are members. The STARS report took over a year and hundreds of UNCW faculty, staff and students to complete. Credits of the report include Curriculum, Research, Campus Engagement, Public Engagement, Air & Climate, Buildings, Dining Services, Energy, Grounds, Purchasing, Transportation, Waste, Water, Coordination, Planning & Governance, Diversity & Affordability, Health, Wellbeing & Work, Investment, and Innovation.

The AASHE STARS report will be used by Princeton Review and Sierra Club to rank sustainable universities. UNCW will use it as a benchmarking tool in order to create our roadmap of progress through the UNCW Sustainability Action Plan
