The application process for the UNCW Sustainability Peer Educators is OPEN until 11.6.2017. We are looking for volunteers to shadow for a semester or two before filling a paid position.

Job Description

Be a part of the Sustainability Peer Educator program, and help spread the word to the student body about UNCW sustainability and how to live with environmental stewardship, social justice and economic vitality in mind. Students will work 8 hrs/week on projects and programs that increase awareness, support university sustainability initiatives and achieve goals outlined in the UNCW Sustainability Action Plan. Each educator will be required to attend one weekly meeting and table once a month. Examples of other requirements may include creating marketing materials, collaborating with other departments and organizations to implement programs, organizing basketball game recycling sweeps and reporting to the UNCW Student Government Association. Exemplary applicants hold the following qualities:

  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to see projects through to completion
  • Ability to learn information about sustainability topics and relate the information to peers
  • Enthusiastic, engaging individuals who are passionate about environmental and social issues
  • Accountability and understanding the repercussions for not meeting expectations
  • Sense of creativity and fun
  • Responsibility tracking and analyzing trends

Timeline

Applications will be due no later than 5pm on November 6th. Absolutely no late applications will be accepted. All applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of members from the UNCW Sustainability Council. One-on-one interviews with the top 4 applicants will occur from Noveber 13th-17th.

ALL peer educators must attend a 1 day training in January 6th and in August (date TBD). If you apply and will not be able to make this training day please explain at the bottom of your application.
