Capital Expenditure (CapEx)

The Capital Expenditure Fund's purpose is to provide supportive funding to Registered Student Organizations for one-time, large capital (tangible property) purchases exceeding $500.00. The individual item being requested must be in excess of $500.00. The item must also have no less than a three (3) year life expectancy and contribute directly to the fulfillment of the organization's stated mission. Any person or group requesting funds must be prepared to make a presentation on how the UNCW campus will benefit from the funding.

The CapEx requests will be evaluated and given to student organizations who prove need in both application and presentation as well as given to those requests that benefit not only the organization, but the entire university. Items are not funded on a first-come, first-serve basis so after the CapEx deadline, all requests will be reviewed.

Only organizations that have been established for at least one (1) full semester are eligible for CapEx funding.

Once an organization has been approved for equipment through Capital Expenditure, it will be ineligible to receive funding for the same item or any item that provides the same use to that organization for three (3) calendar years from the semester of the initial request.

The Capital Expenditure Request period for the Fall 2017 semester is open until October 31, 2017. In that time, student organizations who submit a funding request must also sign up to present to the Appropriations Committee. Once all requests have been reviewed, the requests will go to the SGA Senate for a vote by November 28, 2017.

All requests to be reviewed in Fall 2017 must be turned in online by 5 PM on October 31, 2017 or before.
