I became interested in sociology quite by accident. I took an introductory course at the community college I attended in Jacksonville and really liked the material. When it came time to choose a major a UNCW, I chose sociology by chance. I was fortunate enough to take courses with Dr. Diane Levy and Dr. Steve McNamee. Both encouraged me to continue on to graduate school. I would have never guessed that I would be heading to graduate school when I first came to UNCW in 1984. The faculty was so supportive and encouraging that I felt confident enough to go to graduate school at SUNY at Stony Brook. I finished my Ph.D. in 1992.
As educational technology advances, I am better able to offer online courses.
