Program Objectives

The Athletic Training program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington prepares undergraduate students entry into allied health care profession.  The program seeks to accomplish its mission through the following goals and objectives.

  1. To adhere to the code of ethics established by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
  2. Upon successful completion of the program, the athletic training students will be expected to have demonstrated knowledge of the Athletic Training Education Competencies in the following areas:

    • Evidence-Based Practice
    • Prevention and Health Promotion
    • Clinical Examination and Diagnosis
    • Acute Care of Injury and Illness
    • Therapeutic Interventions
    • Psychosocial Strategies and Referral
    • Health Care Administration
    • Professional Development and Responsibility
