Throughout your time as a Seahawk at UNCW, we encourage you to get involved in your new community by checking out the Military Affairs Wing, attending an event, and engaging with other veteran or military-affiliated students.
The Office of Military Affairs offers multiple opportunities for workshops, panels, and a wide variety of events throughout the year, so you can get involved and check them out on your schedule.
Transfer Orientations: Held at the beginning of both the Fall and Spring semesters
Brunch & Learns: Weekly event at the OMA Wing in Veterans Hall 1029
Cords and Coins Ceremony: Special graduation ceremony just for veteran students and military spouses and dependents
Veterans Week: An entire week of programming during the second week of November including a Fitness Expo, Veterans Day Ceremony and Luncheon, and much more
Military Appreciation Events
Attend UNCW sporting events, including the UNCW Men’s Basketball game and UNCW Men’s Baseball game
The OMA has an entire wing in Veterans Hall which is thoughtfully designed to meet a variety of needs for our “Seahawks Who Serve.” The OMA is open Monday – Friday, 0800-1700.
KITCHEN AND STUDY AREA
Our center includes collaborative workstations, spaces to study, eat, and meet and mingle with other military-connected students.
THE QUIET ROOM
If you need a peaceful place to study, rest, or relax between classes, come check out our “Quiet Room,” equipped with neck and foot massagers, heating pads, and wireless headphones!
OMA LOUNGE & EVENT SPACE
Our office hosts events year-round in our space including weekly Brunch & Learns, guest speakers and panels, and visits with the service dogs from Paws4People.
