The Disability Resource Center (DRC) ensures students with disabilities have equal access to all programs, services, and activities offered by UNCW. You will learn more about the DRC including:

The mission of Access Ally training is to identify, educate and support our allies!  We aim to create an atmosphere of support and accessibility for UNCW's individuals with disabilities.  

Attendees will learn about:

  • Disability History
  • All About the DRC
  • Disability Etiquette
  • Accessibility 101
  • Allyship

Following the end of this training, participants will receive a certificate of completion and an Access Ally sticker to display so students with disabilities know you are a safe space and resource for them.

This training is offered in-person only.  Limit 20 participants.

Designed to help increase awareness and create a culture of inclusivity that welcomes individuals with disabilities.  This workshop will feature:

  • Disability Etiquette
  • Service Animal Etiquette
  • Tips for Inclusivity

This workshop can be tailored to specific audiences.

Accessible Content 101: Courses

Learn about the many ways you can make your course more accessible to a wide range of students!  This workshop will cover everything from:

  • textbooks & documents
  • lectures
  • slides & presentations
  • quizzes, tests & exams
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Accessible Content 102: Events & Presentations

This training will help presenters, participants, and organizers make events inclusive to individuals with disabilities. Understand the basics, planning your event, how to create your presentation with accessibility in mind and what to do during the presentation. 

Accessible Content 103: Social Media

Do you ever wonder if what you are putting out on social media is accessible to all users?  Learn how to create and publish content for social media in a manner that is accessible to individuals with a variety of disabilities. Learn tips beyond the basics such as: writing alt text and ensuring language is accessible.
