Standard Software on University-Owned Computers

The following software comes pre-loaded on faculty and staff Windows-based computers:

  • Windows 10
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • 7-zip
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
  • Cisco VPN client (laptops/tablets only)
  • Computrace
  • Alertus (emergency alert system)
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Windows Defender ATP

The following software comes pre-loaded on faculty and staff Mac computers:

  • macOS Sonoma 14 or newest supported OS the machine can run
  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro DC
  • Cisco VPN client (laptops/tablets only)
  • Computrace (must be purchased separately from the Dell punch-out)
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Windows Defender ATP
  • Alertus (emergency alert system)

Install Software On Your UNCW-Owned Computer

You can use Software Center on a Windows computer and Self Service on a Mac to easily install UNCW approved software on your computer.

Note: UNCW (and most software vendors) support the most recent version and one previous version of a software program, so be sure your software is up-to-date.

  • All students and select faculty and staff have access to Adobe Creative Cloud. More details.
  • All students, faculty and staff have access to Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • All faculty and staff have access to Adobe Acrobat.
