NOVEMBER 13, 2023 – UNCW Parking and Transportation Services, Sustainability, and Student Government Association have teamed up to sponsor the First Annual Food for Fines Campaign November 13 – 17. Eligible items will be accepted to void eligible student citations during the campaign, and the items will be donated to the Hawk’s Harvest pantry to help fellow Seahawks in need. 

Parking and Transportation Services will void the fine of one eligible student citation as follows:

Citation must have been issued August 18, 2023 – November 10, 2023. Citations can be paid or unpaid; the citation amount will be credited to the student account e-bill. A credit will be issued on the e-bill if the citation was previously paid. If the citation was unpaid, a credit will be issued to reverse related the citation charge.

• $30 & under citation: (3) eligible donation items
• $40 citation: (4) eligible donation items
• $50 citation: (5) eligible donation items
  • Maximum of $50 fine reduction per person per semester (only one citation is eligible)

• Students may bring eligible items (see list below) to the Sustainability Office Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Warwick Center.
• Bring your UNCW One Card ID and the eligible parking citation number. A sustainability coordinator or UNCW staff member will accept your eligible donation and record for parking to void your eligible fine.
• We will gladly accept eligible donations even if you don’t have a citation!

Eligible Items for Donation (from this list ONLY)

• Pasta (any variety…spaghetti, rotini, penne, etc.)
• Peanut butter
• Canned chicken or tuna
• Hygiene items (shampoo and conditioner, box or bottle of soap, package of razors, etc.)
• Rice – whether a small 1lb bag or microwaveable/flavored options.

• Box of cereal or snacks (goldfish, box of pop-tarts or granola bars, etc.)
• Canned tuna and chicken
• Pasta and sauce
• Rice (please no large bags)
• Pasta and sauce packets
• Peanut butter and jelly
• Canned pasta (Chef Boyardee, etc.)
• Canned chunky soups (with and without meat)
• Macaroni & Cheese
• Packages of Ramen

SEPTEMBER 25, 2023 - Beginning Monday, September 25, the UNCW Loop Shuttle will be operated by WAVE Transit. Shuttle tracking will also change to Transloc.

• Track your WAVE Seahawk shuttles by accessing the website  via your mobile device or computer or download the Transloc shuttle tracking app.

April 25, 2024 - Alternative Transportation will remove bicycles in the academic and residential areas over the Summer of 2024. Bicycles are removed annually for space and safety concerns. To keep your bike from being removed, ensure that it is registered and contact bikes@uncw.edu for a summer tag.  

In the academic area, bicycles that are damaged or missing parts will be removed. In residential areas, all bicycles, regardless of condition, will be removed unless the bike is registered and the owner has made prior arrangements with Alternative Transportation and a Summer Tag affixed.

Pursuant to North Carolina law, all unclaimed bicycles will be donated to a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (30) days after the posting of this notice April 25, 2024.

JUNE 12, 2023 - Faculty and staff 2022-23 parking permits expire July 31. Registration will not automatically renew for the 2023-24 permit year. 

2023-24 parking permits are valid August 1-July 31. Registration opens today, June 12, in the parking portal. Faculty and staff may purchase permits, pay/appeal citations, update vehicle information, and fully manage their parking account online within the parking portal. Registration instructions are on the faculty/staff registration website.

Parking Permits Are Virtual
A permit is required to park on campus and ALL parking permits are virtual. License plates act as the permit - there are no physical permits to pick up or hang in your vehicle (see information below related to virtual permits and parking).

Alternate Parking Options (no annual permit) 
As the start of the academic year approaches, faculty and staff are encouraged to evaluate their parking needs. We want to emphasize that an annual parking permit allows the convenience and flexibility to come to campus as needed and park in ANY faculty/staff lot, including gated lots. However, we recognize the varying needs and circumstances of faculty and staff and provide flexibility for a variety of parking needs. 
 
For those who choose NOT to purchase an annual permit, alternative parking options (no gate access) include:

• Hourly Parking: Available at any ParkMobile location, $2/hour (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted forms of payment). See ParkMobile locations for more information.
• Day Permit: $5/day, log in to the parking portal to purchase.
• Weekly Permit: $20/week, log in to the parking portal to purchase.

Virtual Permits and Parking
Since parking permits are associated with license plates, you must park with your license plate facing the driving lane (no backing in or pulling through a parking space).  

• If you wish to pull through or back into a parking space, you must have a vanity license plate affixed to the front bumper of your vehicle to comply with the license plate recognition technology. Vanity plates are not permits to park; they supplement your valid parking permit to allow you to pull through/back in.
  • If your vehicle is licensed in a two-plate state, and you already have a state-issued license plate on the front of your vehicle, a vanity plate is not needed.
• Vanity Plates: purchase through the parking portal.

Citations 
Citations may be viewed and appealed online within the parking portal (see the citations website for more information on viewing, paying and appealing citations online). In compliance with the North Carolina General Statute 147-86.23, the university is required to collect citation charges and will charge additional fees and interest on any citation amounts past due. May 16, 2023 – Current (2022-23) annual Faculty/Staff permits cover parking in the summer, and as a reminder, there is no longer a payroll deduction in June and July! No action is required for summer parking unless you need to update your vehicle information (in the parking portal).

If you do not have an annual permit, we offer several alternate parking options below:
