“The immersive break trip is an opportunity to be exposed to different perspectives, develop new friendships, discover more about what you are passionate about, and elevate your life by making someone else feel valued and seen as a human. Taking part is an act of courage and selflessness, and it will change their life!” - 2024 program participant.
The Immersive Service program at UNCW provides students with the opportunity to engage in various forms of direct service and to explore a new community while learning from - and serving with - individuals from their host site and their peers.
Trips are typically a week long, taking place during Spring Break. Participation is open to any UNCW student. The cost of each trip varies depending on location, length of trip, etc. For each trip, students will attend pre-trip meetings, the trip itself, and then a follow-up meeting.
Past Immersive Service sites include Atlanta, Asheville, and New Orleans. We have even had one in Wilmington!
