Chair’s Update:
Chris McQueen-your time here and professional development and meeting as a complete division-having a similar focus point would be good-as you put together a plan for division-wide meetings, ensure centralized focus points are there
Dr. William Schafer -We need to find the avenues to do that-met with VC of Diversity-having a combined meeting with our leaders to talk about what this looks like-ongoing effort by all means
Susan-shifting of Title IX and no longer under student affairs-info not really shared about that-now living under HR-He will pass this on
Dr. William Schafer -How are staff in general feeling on campus these days?
Summer for Auxiliary Services is their busier time-less students, more projects because they can’t be done while students are here-we are all here and trying to get things ready for the students in the Fall
Orientation just wrapped up- and summer camps are going on-we have to think about these things that ramp up our business
Leslie Wright-OUR team strives to do outreach and development of faculty relationships-we do a really great job of that and have a lot of movement-I’d like to see some partnerships and collaborations-we are providing some strong career services on campus-participating in classroom outreach-it’s up to our staff for the faculty outreach-emails/phone calls-we work very hard to develop those relationships-we are very happy they can be a conduit for getting into the classrooms-showing students the career center does a have a place for them
Dr. William Schafer -Thank you for your time-it’s like being a live-in consultant and will enjoy getting to know you.
UNCW’s crowdfunding platform, TEALstarter, will be returning this fall. Managed by the Annual Giving office, this platform allows student organizations, clubs and others to raise funds they need. New this year will be the ability for faculty to submit proposals for TEALstarter projects. I am confirming if this may be open to staff as well and will share more information after the start of the academic year when the platform goes live.
