Mission
UNCW Continuing and Professional Education provides high-quality learning opportunities with a focus on non-credit professional development for individuals, government entities, and other employers. CPE advances the mission of the university through excellence in teaching and dedication to community engagement.

Key Staff
Mitchell Bloomer, Ph.D. Director of Continuing and Professional Education, has served higher education since 1997 in non-profit, private, proprietary, and public institutions and organizations. He has held positions as Dean of Continuing Education and Professional Studies, and leadership positions within a College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Online, and Extension Centers. Dr. Bloomer earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and graduate credentials in Public Administration, Business Data Analytics, Online Teaching and Learning, and Instructional Technology, and is a Certified Personal Trainer. Christine Ossipov, MBA, Program Coordinator, has been in Continuing and Professional Education for over 15 years. Prior to joining UNCW, she was a workforce development instructor at Cape Fear Community College. Before her shift to education, Ossipov served as vice president of a NYC library design firm leading teams in operations, implementation, conversions, and logistics. She holds an MBA from UNCW, a BA in Communications from ECU, and is a certified Microsoft Office Master. (ossipovc@uncw.edu)
Emily Quezada, Graduate Assistant, has serviced small businesses in photography, videography, and design branding for 5 years, and recently entered the UNCW MAIMC program to develop these skills further. Prior to this career shift she worked in documentaries and birth for 8 years, following a brief undergraduate / post baccalaureate period in sports and management for 5 years. She most recently gained the opportunity to join the UNCW CPE team as a GA to gain experience. She holds a BA plus two years as a student midwife, and is certified and accredited in Human Behavior research, Birth Photography, Infant Safety, Labor and Postpartum Doula, and Videography.
