Move-In & Out

Move-Out 2025

Students must be moved out of their residence halls by 3:00 PM on May 9th or 24 hours after their last exam

Residents must sign up with their RA for a check-out time no later than 5:00 PM on April 30th

Formal check-outs will take place from May 1- May 11

Any check-outs taking place before May 1 must be coordinated with the RA.

Standard Check-Out

• Residents should be present for the check-out time they requested
• The RA will inspect the room during the requested check-out time to ensure all items have been removed and to assess for damages not already noted on the room condition report (RCR)
• The RA will note any damages on the RCR that incur a cost
  • The damages may include damage to the walls, ceilings, floors, university furniture, trash, etc.
  • It is the responsibility of each resident to ensure that all items and trash have been cleared from the room
  • Ensure all furniture is back in the original arrangement it was when they moved in
  • Deloft the beds (area specific)
• Once the RA has completed the inspection, they will ensure the room is locked and return the completed paperwork to their Residence Coordinator.
• All residents are responsible for the common spaces regarding damages incurred. Common spaces include living rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, study spaces, and other shared living spaces.

Express Check-Out

• Residents will notify their RA when they plan to complete an express check-out
• Express check-outs may only be completed between 5:00 PM and 11:59 PM
• Residents will remove all personal items and trash from their room and re-arrange the furniture back to the initial arrangement when they moved in.
  
  • Please ask the RA ahead of time if you're unsure of what this looks like!
• Residents will turn in their key to the area's front desk. The DR will provide residents with an express check-out form and the resident's yellow card to sign.
  • By turning in their key and signing all paperwork, the resident agrees to all charges incurred by damages noted during the RA inspection of the space.
• The RA will inspect the room within 24 hours to ensure all items and trash have been removed and to assess the room for any damages.
• Once the RA has completed the inspection, they will ensure the room is locked and return the completed paperwork to their Residence Coordinator

Charges

• Charges are given to residents if there is:
  • Damage to the room, walls, ceiling, or university furniture.
    
    • This includes common areas as well
  • Trash or personal items left in the space 
  • The furniture is not in the layout it was initially for move-in
  • Beds are not delofted (area specific)
• Please talk to your RA if you have any questions about charges prior to move-out.

• Charges will also be incurred if
  • Residents do not return their key
  • Are not present during the check-out time they requested
  • Check-out during a time not approved

Extended Stay and Transition Housing

• Residents may request extended stay from Friday, May 9 at 3:00 PM until Sunday May 11 at 10:00 AM
• Extended stay requests must be approved by the Residence Coordinator
  • Only residents who have requested an extended stay and have been approved by the RC can stay in the residence halls
• Approved reasons to request an extended stay include:
  
  • Summer school
  • Participation in graduation
  • Working on campus
  • Transportation delays
• The deadline to request an extended stay is Thursday May 1
• Residents that need transition housing must contact the RC for additional information
  
  • Transition housing begins Sunday May 11 and ends Friday May 16. The cost is $25.00 per day.
