Emily R Williamson
Chemistry Lab Coordinator
Ms. Emily Williamson, the General Chemistry Lab Coordinator in UNCW's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, works closely with graduate teaching assistants to provide high-quality laboratory experience for general chemistry students. She is passionate about making chemistry accessible, engaging, and safe for students, especially those encountering a lab environment for the first time. Before joining UNCW, Emily gained extensive experience in chemistry education as both a general chemistry adjunct professor at Oglethorpe University and as a graduate student teaching assistant at Emory University both in Atlanta, GA. These opportunities allowed her to develop skills in curriculum development, teaching, and mentoring. Her philosophy emphasizes the importance of building foundational skills in the field of chemistry and emphasizes the connection between chemistry and real-world applications. Her goal is to inspire confidence and curiosity in students while preparing them for more advanced coursework and careers in STEM fields.
