Evelyn Trejo

Temporary EHRA Employee

Evelyn Trejo serves as a Next Step Adviser with Advise NC at UNCW, where she works directly with high school students and families to expand access to postsecondary education and career pathways. She is deeply passionate about educational equity and empowering underserved, first-generation, and undocumented students to see themselves in spaces they once believed were out of reach.
As a first-generation college graduate and the daughter of immigrants, Evelyn’s work is deeply personal. Her lived experiences shape how she advocates for students from rural and low-income communities. She is committed to creating inclusive, student-centered support that opens doors to college, workforce, and military pathways.
In addition to her advising role, Evelyn is a Project Youth Extension Service (YES) intern at NC State University, where she works with military-connected youth and supports programming focused on resiliency, leadership development, and social-emotional growth. This experience has further strengthened her commitment to service and youth advocacy across diverse communities.
