Lori Scalamoni

Temporary EHRA/Faculty

Loraine Scalamoni is a contemporary artist inspired by the figure and with a curiosity about people, desiring to capture her vision of them.

Having begun her career as a Fashion Illustrator in New York City, she moved to Wilmington, North Carolina and continued her education in Fine Art. With a focus on figures and portraiture, she obtained a Master of Fine Arts Degree from East Carolina University in 2024.

People who pique her interest through their personality or physical traits become her models and she creates a visual narrative after photographing, observing and conversing with her subject. Her portraits are created with acrylic and oil paints and mixed media with varied mark making.

The strengths and passions imbodied in her models find their way into her paintings. She believes capturing the essence of her model is as crucial as portraying their physical likeness.
