Jaime L. Russell
Director of Student Community Engagement
Jaime leads the Student Community Engagement team of professional, graduate, and student staff in the department of Campus Life. Her team fosters mutually beneficial community partnerships, engages students in hands-on volunteer experiences in the community, provides voter registration education and support, and supports efforts to address student food insecurity on campus through the Hawk’s Harvest Food Pantry and Swipes for Seahawks program. Her team is responsible for several annual programs such as Wings Up for Wilmington, the Volunteer Fair, Adopt-A-Family Thanksgiving meal donations, the Angel Tree holiday gift program, and Immersive Service Trips. Jaime serves as an instructor in the Department of Educational Leadership in the Watson College of Education for the Leadership Studies Minor (undergraduate) and Coaching and Mentoring Certificate Program (post-baccalaureate).
Prior to her current role, Jaime served as the Assistant Director (2012-2015) and Director (2015-2021) of the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement, where she oversaw Student Community Engagement initiatives, Leadership Development programs, and Fraternity and Sorority Life. Prior to UNCW, she worked at Slippery Rock University of PA where she supported Living Learning Communities, and her first professional role after graduate school was as a Residence Life Coordinator at Penn State Erie, the Behrend College.
Dr. Russell is a certified Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator and a CliftonStrengths Coach. Her Top 5 are: Strategic, Individualization, Achiever, Input, and Futuristic.
