Amy C. Reamer
Associate Professor of Practice & Coordinator of Engineering Programs
Dr. Amy Craig Reamer is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina Wilmington and is the inaugural Director of Engineering for the UNCW College of Science & Engineering. She earned a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from North Carolina State University, where she was recognized as a university valedictorian upon completion of her B.S.I.E. degree from the institution. Dr. Reamer has received numerous academic and leadership awards throughout her career. In 2020, her dissertation research on applying Markovian models to the K-12 mathematics education system was featured in a book highlighting women in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Research Interests
Dr. Reamer has led research initiatives focused on the integration of STEM disciplines in the K-16 education system and previously served as the Project Manager for a multi-million dollar National Science Foundation funded grant, entitled Mathematics Instruction using Decision Science and Engineering Tools (MINDSET). In this role, she managed a large network of academic partner institutions and contributed content to the development of a new high school mathematics curriculum applying Industrial Engineering and Operations Research principles. She is currently engaged in research on workforce development initiatives, particularly building a robust K-16 pipeline of STEM proficiency to prepare individuals for jobs in the nuclear energy industry.
Professional Service
Prior to assuming her current position, she served as the Director of the NC State Engineering 2+2 Transfer Program at UNCW, where she taught and advised engineering students for over 12 years. Under the guidance and support of Dr. Reamer, over 1,000 students matriculated as juniors to the NC State College of Engineering where over 90% graduated with engineering degrees. She was also an Adjunct Teaching Assistant Professor and affiliate graduate faculty member in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at NC State. Previously she served in academic support roles as the Coordinator of Student Computing for the College and as ABET Staff Support for the ISE department for multiple accreditation review cycles. Earlier in her career, Dr. Reamer worked as a Cost Engineer at Lenovo International, formerly the IBM Personal Computing Division.
