Caron R Modeas

For more than 35 years Caron Modeas has been engaged in various aspects of biomedical and social/behavioral research. Her early career in NY was as a clinical trials data manager in respiratory cancers and as publications manager for an oncology-based international cooperative group. After relocating to NC she served in various positions including as protocol writer for breast and gastric cancer clinical trials, IRB analyst, program manager for a pain research group, and as coordinator of the UNC-CH Scientific Review Committee, from where she retired in 2020. She is co-author on 14 scientific papers, and has been acknowledged for editorial expertise on many dozens of publications.

After retirement and relocation to Oak Island Ms. Modeas sought an opportunity to remain connected with academic/clinical research, when she was appointed to the position of Research Methodologist and Professional Editor on the CHHS Research and Innovation team.

B.A. in English (American Studies), Empire College of University of Buffalo (incomplete).

Community Engagement

An avid reader and advocate for literacy, Ms. Modeas volunteered for Literacy Volunteers of America while living in NY. Since moving to the NC coast she has volunteered with the Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection program and as a reader to residents of local long-term care facilities.
