Kristen R. Meyer

Assistant Director for OAP Academic Advising

Kristen joined the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) for the second time in November 2025 as the Assistant Director for OAP Acadmic Advising. She previously worked in CHHS from 2015 to 2021 as a Student Success Advisor, also primarly with OAP students. Kristen is originally from Greenville, NC and received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Applachian State University. Upon graduating, she taught elementary school in Charlotte, NC for 2 1/2 years. Kristen then returned to App State to earn a Master of Arts degree in Higher Education. She subsequently held positions as an Academic Advisor for Athletes at East Carolina University (2011-2012) and George Mason University (2012). Kristen also served as the Student Record Development & Training Coordinator at the University of West Florida from 2013-2015. Between her times at UNCW, Kristen served as an Academic Advisor at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, VA. Kristen is passionate about helping students define what "success" means to them and help students reach that goal. Most recently, Kristen earned her Doctorate in Leadership - Higher Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2025.
