Shirley Mathews
Senior Lecturer
Shirley spent 25 years in daily newspapers as a reporter and editor in Connecticut and New York City. She had a ringside seat when the dot.com revolution came and is looking forward to seeing where AI takes us all. She is certified in Adobe Photoshop and regularly takes Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Audition and other programs out for a run. She started in the English Department at UNCW in 2004 and became fulltime in 2007. She holds a masters degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in Manhattan.
