Mark J Mason
Academic Advisor
Mark joined the Academic Resource Center within the College of Humanities, Social Sciences and The Arts in the summer of 2024. In his role as an Academic Advisor, he assists students with understanding their degree requirements, course sequencing, and academic goal setting for timely graduation. Before joining UNCW Mark worked at Cape Fear Community College for seven and a half years as an Academic Advisor. In that time he helped a diverse population of students including first generation, military/veteran students, and adult learners plan for degrees in the health sciences and/or transfer. While a Cape Fear, Mark provided guidance to other Advisors on best practices and mentored new Advisors as a Senior Advisor. As a transfer student himself, Mark understands the experience and uses his knowledge to best guide students to opportunities for growth. Mark values life long learning, and in 2022 completed his Master of Education degree while working as an Academic Advisor. When out of the office Mark enjoys visiting the mountains of North Carolina or meeting with friends to play a few broad games.
