Upon graduating with my Master's degree in social work, I spent 20 years in direct practice, including aging services, hospice, medical social work and social work administration.

Research Interests
Qualitative research. Community and public health issues. Volunteerism and civic engagement. Current qualitative research working with families of patients who have survived a stroke (NIH grant).
Professional Service
I have provided assistance to numerous journals as a reviewer and text editor, CSWE as a trained site visitor, and with the Jordan Institute for Families at UNC Chapel Hill (Rethinking Guardianship initiative).
Community Engagement
I have acted as an advisory counsel member to QENO and Interfaith Refugee Ministries of Wilmington.
