Arthur S Hughes
Lecturer
Arthur Hughes began teaching part-time at UNCW in 2022, and moved into a full-time lecturer position in 2025. He is a passionate professional and educator who began his successful career in engineering and evolved through significant leadership roles in sales, procurement, and supply chain, mostly in the Automotive industry.
As a Lecturer in Supply Chain and Co-Director of the Cameron Executive Network at UNCW, Arthur is dedicated to shaping future leaders and fostering impactful mentorship. He teaches courses in the Supply Chain department, focusing on Procurement Management, Operations Management, and Quality. He also teaches BUS 206 ("Career Essentials"), which focuses on career planning and job search skills for CSB students.
He brings over 30 years of executive experience from engineering, manufacturing, and talent acquisition to the classroom, integrating real-world challenges into his curriculum. His career includes global leadership roles in purchasing, supply chain, supplier quality, and executive recruitment with companies such as Catalent Pharma Solutions, GKN Automotive, and Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (now Goodyear).

Professional Service
Arthur is the Co-Director of the Cameron Executive Network (CEN), a volunteer network made up of current and retired business executives who are dedicated to enhancing the education and career development of undergraduate Cameron School of Business students through individual mentoring.
He also is active on campus, serving as a Board Member for the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), and participating in various groups and task forces, particularly around artificial intelligence (AI).
Community Engagement
Arthur is active networker in the local community, including Wilmington Chamber of Commerce events and various activities supporting local charitable and service organizations, such as StepUp Wilmington and the Cape Fear Manufacturing Partnership.
