Thomas R. Hart

Senior Lecturer

Dr. T. Robert Hart’s teaching and research examine the intersections of culture, politics, and the environment. His scholarship on the environmental politics of the Santee-Cooper hydroelectric project in South Carolina earned him the Jack Temple Kirby Award. Along with his work on Santee-Cooper's social and ecological consequences, Dr. Hart is currently researching the history of human-wildlife relationships in the coastal Carolinas. He received a PhD from the University of Alabama and MA and BA degrees from Clemson and Furman Universities. In 2017, he wrote Giving Flight to Imagination to commemorate the 70th anniversary of UNCW.
